Character History: A well-covered history here at ComicVine! In summary of that, though: A faithful man endures the loss of his family while climbing a holy mountain in search of the messiah to save his dying planet. When all his family members die and he finds the peak abandoned, he lashes out at God, who then reveals to him that he himself has the power to help his people. He is then inducted into the Blue Lantern Corps as one who can instill great hope, and his home planet is saved through that power.
He is the Corps' first inductee and plays a crucial role, alongside members of the other Lantern Corps, in fighting the Black Lanterns (the dead reanimated through evil means) and the search for the Entities: creatures that physically embody the emotional spectrum.

Personality:

Walker is a gentle, calming presence in a universe full of chaos and high emotions. Being affiliated with the blue power of Hope, he is drawn close to the middle of the emotional spectrum, giving him a reflective, albeit slanted to optimistic, demeanor with the determination and patience to persevere with even the most hot-tempered of people. He often plays at mediator or becomes the one tasked in calming down heated arguments or personalities. He is good at this even without his ring, though his penchant for faith and hope doesn't always rub everyone the right way.

As a man whose faith was indeed justified in one of his most direst crises (his planet's sun about to destroy the planet), he has no trouble in putting things to hope. Even when times are at their worst, the words on his lips were, are, and will always be, "All will be well." It is said with such frequency that one would think it just an idle mantra, but he truly does believe in it. His years as a religious leader, the safety of his planet, and the final vision of his deceased family sending him onto his new life as a Lantern have built up his morale in this regard.

He is not blind to the strife of the world around him, however. His ring grants him glimpses into the hopes of the souls around him if need be, and it's not all sunshine and daisies. Having experienced despair himself, he can empathize and relate with those who suffer, and does his best to create a safe, calming atmosphere. If, in any small way he can, he can help someone find the resolve to endure and fight on, he will work to find it, be it words or action. Still, as much as he has the want to help as many as he can, he doesn't always have enough will. And even if he does, he believes very much in the strength of self-motivation, as it is something he had to learn for himself.

Walker has a great deal of perseverance and a wealth of patience, as mentioned above, for not only heated personalities but also the heat of battle. He willingly joins the fray and fights alongside others for the causes of righteousness and peace. He is strong, but not outstandingly so compared to others inducted into the other Corps, but all that mountain climbing seems to have helped his endurance levels. He's not much for head-on combat, and is more of a support player, bolstering the powers of his allies and depleting those of the enemy.

As willing as he is to help fight and endure strife, he longs for good and peaceful things. Even so, he is well-aware of his mission and has entirely devoted himself to it, and so he will not rest until the task is done or he has breathed his last. Then, at last, he will be reunited with his family. All will be will.

Extra:
Character Abilities: Walker is the owner of a Blue Lantern ring, which grants him the ability to fly safely through space, forcefields, and general flight. It can generate constructs of the things that, when targeted at a specific person/persons, reflect the target(s)'s object of great hope, usually a person or a thing, but may warp to a series of such if the notion is more abstract. Greater still, the ring has the capacity to de-age dying suns, returning them to a youthful, blue state.
Unfortunately, without the aid of a Green Lantern ring, the Blue can only give Walker the barest of powers (flight, shields), but on the plus, it requires no constant battery recharge, instead drawing on the power of hope throughout the universe.
It seems, though, that with the GL ring present, Walker's ring can also make some constructs of his own imagination, though they appear to be very minimalist (a pillow to catch Starman in JLA #55) or just generic energy blasts. So. There's that. If ever a GL shows up...
Possessions: Dat ring
Anything else: All will be well.

Action/Communication thread/post sample:

How strange it is...[a distracted pause. then, carrying on:] That my ring cannot see the scale and scope of your planet. Strong forces are at work, yet I detect no danger at hand.

Perhaps that blindness is the danger.

[a beat.]

You who have stayed for so long: Would you share your thoughts with me? I would be very interested to know as much as there is to know. Interested...and grateful, of course. I thank you for listening to me.
